All this talk about soul-searching, asking the big questions and reaching into yourself for the truths. Where does it all get you? You don't truly know yourself until you ignore yourself. Ignore yourself and reach out. Out to your family, your children. Those who literally cannot function without you being there. You will reflect in them. Your truths will be built in the day-to-day. The grind of life makes all too plain the truths that fancy soul-searching can hide. Pray for patience, discipline, compassion. Whatever it is that you think you need, you will learn it in the routine of living, of caring, of nurturing and teaching your children. They reflect, in word and deed, all too clearly what you are. This is commitment and responsibility like none other.
